Notes from Archive to AR: towards a creative knowledge exchange

Archive to AR was a knowledge exchange project that took place during 2019 and 2020, which funded in its second phase by an XR Stories Small Collaborative R&D grant. A collaboration between the University of Sheffield, Sheffield-based digital agency Hive IT, National Railway Museum, aim develop idea partial prototype for mixed-reality game based on Museum’s archive, could be played phone or tablet. Drawing my experience as practitioner-academic working AR, this article is present reflect upon creative practice-related methodological outcomes project. My intention consider principles doing (KE) emerge when embodied, process prioritised and, line with practice-as-research approach, KE space cast site production well exchange. Part provocation, part ethno-autographic reflection analysis, paper’s overall contribute ongoing conversation about how work can overlap within new ‘third space’ academia way prioritises method, but nevertheless conducive high-quality artistic outputs.
